I might as well start with a confession. I am one of *those* people. I fold corners in books. I scribble and make notes in them. Sometimes I highlight – in LOTS of different colours. The first thing I do when I get my hands on a new one (that I own!!) is enjoy the sensation of bending the covers and cracking the spine… often more than once! I smell them. I judge them by their covers. I collect them… hoard them… and sometimes buy them but don’t read them. I pile them by my bed, cram them on shelves and always carry one in my bag – I buy handbags based on whether or not a book fits into them. Actually… I generally don’t buy handbags because I spend most of my money on books. I read in bed. I read instead of watching TV. I read whilst I’m eating and have even been known to read while trying to cross a road (don’t try this!!) I read on the loo – in fact… a lot of the time when I go to the toilet, I’m not using the toilet, I’m using the excuse to read secretly and cram in a few extra pages in peace. One of my greatest frustrations is that I can’t read in the car without feeling sick. When I got married, the ‘flowers’ in my wedding bouquet were folded from the pages of my favourite book. I struggle with audio books – my mind wanders and I end up picking up a book and reading something else whilst I listen. I owned a Kindle for a while but I missed BOOKS. Did I mention that I fold corners?

So, why this blog? I love books. I love reading. As a parent, I love sharing and reading books with my children. As a teacher, I love sharing and reading books with staff and children in school. As a bibliophile, I am hoping this blog will help me share my great love of books with you…
