A clever combination of fun illustrations, vibrant colours, giant ‘lift the flap’ and factual information make this duo of board books ideal for young children. Published by Nosy Crow (May 2019) they will captivate babies and fascinate inquisitive older children.
My three year old and I have loved revisiting this beautiful books over and over (and over and over and over and over) again. The bold, neon colours, in the screen print illustrations, are joyous and even an animal-lover-grown-up like myself learnt some new terminology.
Each page looks at the terms for the male and female of a different animal – then, hiding under the large, fold-out flap is a baby with their correct term. For example think bull, cow and calf.
Towards the end of each book there is a lovely twist with the addition of collective nouns for groups of the animals from previous pages – a dazzle of zebras or sleuth of bears anyone?
Really gorgeous books that would make a well-loved addition to any child’s bookshelf.
Huge thanks to Nosy Crow for a copy of the books in return for an honest review.
